Wires in the Walls - Super Happy Fun Times Blog
We’ve Made It Halfway!

It’s hard to believe that with five shows behind us, we’ve already hit the halfway point of our east coast tour. Why, it seemed like just yesterday we were dragging our asses to the Long Beach airport at early o’clock in the morning. I think I can safely speak for everyone in the band though when I say we’ve been having an absolute blast. First off, we’ve been fortunate enough to share the stage with some seriously talented and diverse bands, from the funky grooves of Richmond’s No BS Brass Band and Asheville’s Grant Dasantos & Fatback, to the beautiful and sultry sounds of Erika Jane & Remember the Bees, to the… well, I can’t even begin to describe Washington DC’s The Torches, but they’re seriously awesome and we were all blown away. I mean really, when was the last time you saw a band whose instrumentation included an oboe, a banjo, a harmonica, and a theremin? Sick.

Of course, I would be remiss in not conveying our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has housed, fed, cleaned, bathed, and otherwise put up with us along the way. As much as we love our tour van, Wires 1 (and we do love it - 1,500 miles and counting so far!), sleeping in it every night would be about as fun as driving up and down the 405 during rush hour in August in a car with broken AC filled with ornery cats.

So today (that would be Monday) was our day off, and after spending the majority of it engaging in our favorite tour pastime (that would be driving), we’ve finally arrived in the Big Apple (that would be New York City). I am seriously looking forward to tomorrow because not only do we have a great show lined up at Piano’s on the Lower East Side, we get to hang out in the city all day. Warren has been furiously trying to compute an itinerary that will allow us to eat at as many great restaurants as possible before the show, and early reports are that we may in fact gain five pounds in a 12 hour period. So if we all come back a little fatter, cut us some slack. We’ve been trying to do Pilates in the van but space is kinda tight.

That’s all the news for now, thanks for reading and we do hope you’ve been at least mildly entertained by our cornucopia of blog postings. Please let us know if there’s anything you’d like to see more or less of - is there a favorite song you’d like to see a live video of? Would you like to see Thomas do another Top-40 rendition? Let us know and we’ll put our best people on that.

Until next time,

Bryan
